A Los Angeles High School Screening Program featuring the “Best” of Telluride Film Festival, managed by UCLA-TFT students and with the participation of selected filmmakers and faculty.
Successfully launched Spring 2012, FOR THE LOVE OF MOVIES aims to increase diversity in the industry by promoting a college-going culture and a love of the cinematic arts for diverse high school audiences.
Participating inner city Los Angeles-based High Schools have the opportunity to expand personal and professional horizons through a specialized film screening program, operated by UCLA-TFT graduate film students on the UCLA Campus. High School students participate in a day-long program on the UCLA campus that includes a film screening, discussions with filmmaking talent (producers, directors, writers, actors, and industry executives), special break-out mentoring sessions and a technical practicum.
Students learn how films are created, critiqued, how stories are developed, and how to express oneself through a variety of creative media. This aspirational program helps young talent set a vision for their lives and gain exposure to real opportunities that are possible for their futures. The program takes place on on e of the UCLA-TFT sound stages. Participating youth receive priceless guidance and motivation.
